Whether you’re packing for a short weekender escape or a month long Euro trip, these are all the tips and tricks you’ll need for stress-free packing experience!
- MAKE A LIST
Toothbrush? Check. Passport? Check. Underwear? Check.”I keep an ongoing list in my phone of items of my absolute essentials to pack for every trip (charger, cleanser, bathing suit, daily sunscreen, etc.). It makes last-minute packing a lot less stressful because there’s always a checklist for reference.”— Katie Fish, Fashion Market Editor
And yes, there’s a free app for that, PackPoint, which lets you customise pre-prepared packing list base on weather and activities. - FOOTWEAR
Shoes take up more room than anything else and are the most awkward item to pack…Wear your good pair of walking shoes on the plane to avoid having to pack and carry them! The trick when deciding what shoes to pack is ‘quality over quantity’.
PS: Pack your socks inside your shoes! This will save more space in your bag and also help keep your shoes to retain their shape and getting squished.
- ROLL, DON’T FOLD
Many expert travelers, will agree that rolling is superior to folding! Tightly rolled clothes take up way less space than folded ones. Also, they’re less prone to getting deep wrinkles from fold creases…what a bonus! - ELIMINATE HALF
Truth is, nobody is going to see you twice except the people you are traveling with…expect to re-wear outfits on your trip! Leave out the “just in case items” and bring staple items that can be worn multiple times!
- PACK BY OUTFIT
Think about the activities on your trip…are you really going to be wearing a skirt? There’s nothing more annoying than realising you didn’t even wear half the clothes you brought along with you on your trip. More unnecessary washing for when you return home, pft no thank-you! Strictly pack by outfit, not individual items.
