Head to the National Gallery of Australia and immerse yourself in James Turrell’s major skyspace, ‘Within Without’.  This lighting installation has been built within the ground of the National Gallery in Canberra and encourages its visitors to take notice of the many elements that the earth has to offer. From a grassy mound on the outside to smooth turquoise water and a rocky mound within, this exhibit will be sure to make you say ‘Wow!’.


Cycle around Lake Burley Griffin

Some would say Canberra is the ideal stomping (technically riding) ground for those who love to bike ride. The city is build on limestone plains…meaning it’s flat! Surrounded by bike paths is Canberra’s crown jewel, Lake Burley Griffin. Rent a bike from one of the many bike stations around the city, and enjoy a leisurely bike ride around the sparkling lake, and stop for a snack at the little cafe on the water!

We know this is $10 weekenders…but what’s $2 more! Bike rentals start from $12/hour, or if you’re renting for four hours the cost is just $6/hr!


National Botanic Gardens
